Thank you for this report. I couldn't be there and, living in Roosevelt Landings, it feels good to have your voice sharing RI reality. There must be some way to get Kraut and Polivy off the board. It's time for my generation and older to step aside!
I, too, have wondered how long the old guard must linger at the table. Perhaps it’s time not for a stepping aside, but a stepping forward—of new voices, quieter ones even, who are willing to see clearly and act kindly. The truth is, the Island’s soul belongs to those who care enough to carry it, no matter their age.
And I say that as someone who is, undeniably, old. But I don’t believe age itself is the issue. What troubles me is when anyone—young or old—clings to a chair not to serve, but to be seen. Glory without purpose is a heavy thing to carry. A dangerous thing, too.
If the piece resonated with you, I hope you’ll pass it along—to others who care, or perhaps to those who should. That’s how light spreads. Quietly. Earnestly. From one hand to another.

Thanks Susan,
